Distt Bar Association & Aryans organizes a seminar on “Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita”
“Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)” was discussed in a seminar jointly organized by Aryans College of Law, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh & District Bar Association, Chandigarh (UT). Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh graced the occasion as chief guest. while Adv Parminder Singh, Secretary, Distt Bar Association was Guest of Honour. Dr. Nancy Sharma, Asst. Prof., University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh was the keynote speaker.
Dr. Sharma said that he Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) of 2023 replaces the existing Indian Penal Code (IPC) of 1860 as the primary penal law of India. She elaborated Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023. These new laws significantly overhaul India’s criminal justice system, replacing the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 1860, Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) 1973, and Indian Evidence Act (IEA) 1872.
Dr. Anshu Kataria mentioned that this focuses on the new Indian criminal code which replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC), with discussions about its key features and implications for the legal system; the Ministry of Law and Justice organized several conferences across India to raise awareness about this new law among legal professionals, law enforcement, and the public at large.
